Elaine & The Changes
1st Educational vignette with jazz aficionado Steve Gedrose
2nd Featured act, Elaine & The Changes
“The show I’ve put together for Jazz in the Hall is one that reflects the challenges and joys of my time of life… not young, not old, but aging. It’s a time of life that I might have once assumed would be peaceful, perhaps even a bit boring. It is anything but that. Life in your 50s and 60s is full of excitement, tragedy, joy, loss, new adventures, new revelations, new learning… and is not for the faint of heart. It is often said that jazz standards are timeless and that is why they have stood the test of time. For my JITH, I’ve chosen some jazz standards that speak eloquently about life in the past and life as it is now. The tunes are all by different composers and lyricists and are in a variety of jazz grooves… swing, Latin, ballads, waltzes and even one folk tune. I and my band are excited to bring it to the wonderful Whitehorse jazz audience”. ~ Elaine Schiman
