YAC Mainstage

When the Yukon Arts Centre opened its doors in 1992, the Yukon Arts Centre was the largest auditorium in the Canadian North. That legacy continues today, as the Yukon Arts Centre Mainstage enables us to welcome world class performing arts to the Yukon Territory. In addition to being a frequent roadhouse on Canada-wide tours, our Mainstage is also a home-away-from-home for many Yukon youth, and emerging artists. Our Mainstage is a place that our community truly comes together to celebrate Yukon arts and culture.

Accessibility

  • 10 wheelchair accessible seats are reserved for patrons, and their companions.
  • In 2018, hand rails were installed in the Mainstage aisles to allow easier navigation for patrons.
  • The Yukon Arts Centre Mainstage is fully equip with a hearing assist device. Devices that work work existing hearing aids are also available.

Old Fire Hall

The Old Fire Hall is one of Whitehorse’s most unique and iconic heritage buildings. Located in the heart of downtown at 1105 Front St, the Old Fire Hall has become a cultural and community hub, hosting numerous events annually, providing artists, artisans, and audiences, a versatile and supportive space to create, exhibit, and present.

As a multi-purpose venue, the Old Fire Hall regularly hosts meetings, staff/board retreats, talks, film screenings, professional development workshops and seminars. It is also in high demand for craft fairs, concerts, and receptions. The Old Fire Hall is also an important venue for hosting Yukon Arts Centre programming, such as our @YAC Performing Arts Residency and concerts.


Meeting & Reception Spaces

The Yukon Arts Centre has a number of ancillary spaces that can accommodate a variety of smaller meetings and events. Availability is usually dependent on activity levels in the theatre and gallery.

The Studio Theatre can be used as a rehearsal studio, small gallery exhibition space, or as an intimate small presentation venue with a seating capacity of 40 – 100 depending on set-up.

The Lobby provides a large and bright meeting space with a capacity of up to 250 depending on setup.


Ticketing Services

Ticket Sales Locations & Hours of Operation

Tickets can be purchased in person at the YAC Box Office from Monday to Friday 1:00 to 4:00 pm and one hour prior to performances. (Summer hours may differ, please call in advance.)

Tickets can also be purchased online 24/7 at yukonartscentre.com and yukontickets.com or by phone with a credit card by calling the YAC Box Office at 867-667-8574.

Ticket Sales & Setup

YAC manages ticket sales and printing for all events occurring at The Yukon Arts Centre theatre, the Old Fire Hall, studio theatre. YAC also provides ticketing services for non-YAC events, including festivals, sporting events etc.

Ticket Setup Fees

YAC charges an initial setup fee ($60.00) for the first performance of specific event, followed by a smaller surcharge for each subsequent performance ($18.00). All tickets sold (including comps) are subject to a small per-ticket fee to cover printing costs.

Ticket Surcharges

Tickets sold at the Yukon Arts Centre for events held at YAC or the Old Fire Hall includes a $1.00 box office service charge and a $1.00 Capital Reserve Fund contribution.

For events sold by YAC but taking place elsewhere a $2.00 service charge will be applied.

Customizing Tickets

YAC can, upon request, customize the face of the tickets for an event.

Ticket Refunds

YAC reserves the right to determine when ticket refunds (including any service charge) may be made. YAC will provide a refund to a customer if they request one a minimum of 48 hours prior to the show if there is sufficient cause.

Rental Rate

The system will be available for events for no cost. Requests to use the system must be received 6 months prior to the start of the event. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first serve, basis.

All requests will be reviewed by the Director of Production and may require an additional phone call or site visit to confirm final event details. 

Training

If the event organizer requires equipment orientation and/or training of staff/volunteers for the event, they must detail this request in the online booking form. Training will be available for a variety of event production skills by Yukon Arts Centre the day before the scheduled event. The event organizer must provide an 8-hour window with their staff/volunteers to complete the orientation and/or training the day before the schedule event. 

Damage Deposit 

All confirmed bookings will require a $500.00 damage deposit payable at the time of signing your equipment contract. The event organizer will be held responsible for any and all damages to the line array system beyond normal wear and tear. The event organizer will be invoiced by Yukon Arts Centre for equipment damages minus the damage deposit. 

Ancillary Costs 

The organization requesting the system would need to cover the following costs:

  • Hourly wage for Yukon Arts Centre technician or designate (Yukon Arts Centre cannot schedule for longer than an 8 hours work day – overtime charges may be incurred by the client if this is not observed)
  • Shipping costs (all travel details must be approved by the Yukon Arts Centre)
  • Staff travel (mileage)
  • Staff hotel
  • Per diem (Yukon Government daily rate)
  • Insurance
  • Security (if the system is to be left in the open overnight)
