Selina Heyligers-Hare is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with a diploma in Music & Technology from Selkirk College. She has been a staple in the Yukon music scene for decades. From her bluegrass roots to teenaged rock rebellion, to her jazz focused college years, her love for many genres has led to a versatile and unique collection of original material that pushes the boundaries of modern music in all the right ways. For Hendrika, the stage is home, she emanates a star quality while being humble and kind in character, proficient in all her instruments and absolutely captivating.
This past winter, Selina recorded her first full EP at Stackwall Sound Productions under her artist name Hendrika. Composed over many years of growth, heartbreak and grief, the new EP I Can’t Remember explores the depths of the human condition, the poignant irony of the outward grasping need for a love and support that can only be found within. But with this poetic existential darkness and turmoil, it also touches on the lighter pleasures of life and the simplicities of us in our truest selves.
Hendrika as a band is hot off their summer tour including dates such as Dawson City Music Festival (YT) and Lilac Festival (AB). Coming up they will be making their way down to Breakout West 2024 in Saskatoon this September.
