The series Invitation by Janet Moore takes the vessel as its point of departure. A simple line forming a bowl-like container is set against a deep red background in each variation. In stark contrast are the coloured orbs that seemingly hover in space. Painted with an emulsified mixture of wax and pigment, Moore’s spherical shapes are erratically placed, yet definitively circumscribed above the vessel’s opening. A playful yet visceral exploration of form, Invitation provides a provoking rumination on the ambiguity of space.
