More Information
In this collaborative series of photographs, we have created formline images using long exposure B&W digital photography, with a light source “painting” the images through simple lines and movement. Stealing the Light connects photography, painting, and performance with Northwest Coast Formline design. This artwork pays homage to Bill Reid (Haida Nation), a prominent Northwest Coast artist who created wire sculptural works of animal and human figures using only wire – demonstrating the use linework to create shapes and images. The high contrast black and white is also a nod to the North – and specifically Whitehorse, where winters are long and dark.
