This event will feature some favourite works from over the years, as well as the premiere of a major work by Problematic Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Nicolas Hyatt.
Can people’s stories, whether based on personal or shared experience, serve as a basis from which to embark creatively and collaboratively? And then what is the role of a listener, reader in the making / meaning of a story? What does it mean to have a voice and to be heard? Voicings: The Creative Lives of Stories is a collaborative project developed, written and recorded by Jane Chan and Nicolas Hyatt of Parler bien between 2020 and 2023. Throughout this time, Jane and Nic lived, worked, and collaborated with people across Canada and Alaska, listening to their stories in English and French, and weaving voice and acoustic instruments into a rich tapestry that carries the listener between the worlds of radio documentary / podcasting and chamber music.
