Without Saying brings together the richly layered paintings of Ernest Chua and Colin Dorward, two Yukon-based artists who communicate through a shared visual language rather than words. Though their paths differ: Chua is a near non-verbal, autistic, self-taught artist, and Dorward is a neurotypical, academically trained painter, their work resonates in its complexity, density, and refusal to conform to easy interpretation. This exhibition challenges the need for labels like “insider” or “outsider,” instead emphasizing the clarity and power of artistic vision. Without Saying invites viewers into a wordless dialogue between two distinct but deeply connected practices.
