Basia explores the interconnectedness between humans, the cosmos, and the earth on macro and micro scales through paintings, installations, and soundscapes. The imagery references sound and light waves, medicinal plants, ancestral connection, and human figures that serve as conduits between the earth and the sky.
Artist Bio
Basia is an artist, teacher, community programmer, advocate, and drummer who calls Dawson City, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory, home. She grew up in Saskatchewan and has lived in Whitehorse, Vancouver, and other cities and towns in the U.S., Brazil, and Africa.
She is immersed in the north, making art, teaching high school, and drumming in country bands.
She has been involved in the arts, community-based work, and advocacy for over 30 years. She has a BFA, BEd, Masters in Community Development, and studio courses from Emily Carr University and SOVA.
