“A Night in Havana” with Conga Cartel promises to be a thrilling musical journey through the history of Cuban music. This show will showcase the various genres of music that have emerged from Cuba, from Danzon to Son, Cha Cha Cha to Mambo, and Afro-Cuban Jazz.
From the roots of Afro Cuban music to Clavé infused Jazz this Vancouver based group led by percussionist extraordinaire Jack Duncan, illuminates and illustrates the historical and evolving intersection of Jazz and traditional Afro-Latin music. The group is inspired by the works of legendary Afro Cuban music pioneers like Tata Guines, Chucho Valdés, Machito, and Mongo Santamaria who have contributed to shaping the genre of Cuban music into what it is today. Featuring musicians that have been involved in Grammy- and Juno-Award winning projects.
