Jane Bunnett is a flute and soprano sax sensation, and one of Canada’s most celebrated jazz musicians. Across her career as a performer and teacher, she has received many honours, including five Juno Awards and the Order of Canada. With Maqueque, she dives into her passion for Afro-Cuban jazz with a sextet showcasing the talents of the extraordinary young Cuban musicians she has mentored in her career.
Maqueque has taken the North American jazz scene by storm, winning praise from audiences and critics alike. DownBeat named it one of the top ten groups and wrote that it delivers “a clave-induced set of Afro-Cuban, booty-shaking world jazz that would have made Dizzy smile.”
