Jude Griebel explores the confluence of psychological, corporeal and imaginary space in his work. As part of a series of paintings inspired by ghost stories from the historic Macaulay House in Dawson City and created during a KIAC hosted residency, Griebel imbues the familiar with allegorical elements that verge on the surreal. Diffused by an indelible quality of light, Griebel’s dream-like scenes situate his subjects in a liminal state, somewhere between past and present, reality and fantasy.
