Welcome to the Yukon Arts Centre. Since 1992, the YAC has awakened, challenged and transformed artists, participants and audiences with meaningful and inclusive events and exhibitions - all designed to let art in. The YAC is comprised of three buildings located throughout the Yukon Territory, scroll below to find information on the building you're looking for.

YUKON ARTS CENTRE

The cultural nucleus of the Territory is the YAC, which reflects the spirit of the people. The Yukon Arts Centre houses the organization administrative offices, the Main Theatre, the Public, Community, and ATCO Youth Galleries, and the Studio Theatre. PARKING & ACCESSIBILITY

  • Free parking in the lot across from the YAC’s front entrance

The YAC is committed to providing access to all visitors with exceptional guest care, physical and program accommodations, and is a leader in accessibility and inclusion.
A downtown cultural hub, the Old Fire Hall hosts events, performances, exhibitions, town halls, lectures and workshops for groups of all sizes. This flexible downtown venue is also available for rent.

  • Located at street level are the Main Lobby, Orchestra Entrance and accessible washrooms
  • Seating for (10) wheelchairs or other mobility issues - movable/removable seats are available in row KA of the Orchestra level. Booking for row KA is available, online, on the phone, or at the Box Office
  • Hearing assist devices are available upon request
  • The Balcony Section is up two flights of stairs and has no elevator access

THE OLD FIRE HALL

The Old Fire Hall is Yukon’s culture hub. What once housed Whitehorse’s emergency services, is now home to a downtown multi-use space, where some of the best works of Yukon art is developed. This 120 capacity heritage building is available to rent for wedding, meetings, and performances. More rental information here.

PARKING & ACCESSIBILITY

  • Metered parking is available on Front and Main Streets - Free after 6:00 & Sundays
  • Free parking available in the lots on Front Street near the Waterfront Roundhouse
  • Free Wheelchair parking available on Front Street (opposite side of the Old Fire Hall), and on Main St.
  • The Old Fire Hall is a wheelchair accessible building


ART HOUSE CARCROSS

A partnership between the Yukon Arts Centre, Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Carcross/Tagish Management Corp. has created this gallery to showcase and promote exceptional local artists. Guests can purchase pieces directly from the artists themselves or connect with other galleries throughout the Yukon.

Art House Carcross is located in the village of Carcross 45 minutes from Whitehorse. Take the Alaska Highway east and turn onto the South Klondike Highway.

  • All events, exhibitions and accessible washrooms are at street level
  • Seating is all temporary and can therefore be moved/removed to accommodate any wheelchair or other mobility requirements
