Sarah Hamilton is a Whitehorse-based violinist and vocalist with a background in jazz, country, bluegrass and traditional fiddle music, with a passion for 1920’s and 30’s swing and vocal jazz.
She says, “… though I play jazz on the violin, I don’t really seek inspiration from the usual suspects (Grapelli, Venuti, etc.). I have lifted more from horn players around me as I learned this music in a horn centred environment.
Band leading, sharing original material and arranging for a jazz quintet will be an opportunity to grow musically and connect to my home community around a genre of music that I love to play and share. With this band including Chris involved will allow me to express my own creative voice.”
