The Yukon Arts Centre is passionate about encouraging young Yukon artists. We aim to inspire young and old alike by showcasing the creative pursuits of youth from across the Yukon and to provide them with a space where their work can be celebrated, explored, discussed and enjoyed. Art is an important way for young people to express themselves visually, and when other young people are exposed to the work of their peers, they are shown the tools to find their own expressive, artistic language. The experience is a whole new way to explore the northern world we share.

With the generous support of ATCO Electric Yukon, the YAC offers a professional gallery setting to display artworks in the main Yukon Arts Centre building. Organizations or individuals can submit a proposal for a month long exhibition at the ATCO Electric Yukon Youth Gallery. Exhibitors have included Camp Raven summer campers, Association Franco-Yukonnaise, Goldenhorn Elementary School, and The Heart of Riverdale Community Centre.

  • Submissions can be made anytime during the year and are accepted on a first come, first served basis
  • Participating organizations or individuals must be based in the Yukon
  • A youth is defined as anyone under the age of 25
  • Exhibits are planned 3-6 months in advance
  • Proposals should include the type of work and theme, the number of pieces, and their approximate sizes
  • Youth and organizers are welcome to set up their exhibitions themselves, or can request that a staff member assist, or do the work on their behalf
  • If there are more than 50 pieces, or if the works are large or unusually sized, organizations will be required to arrange for a minimum of one volunteer for exhibition setup.

At the Yukon Arts Centre Public Art Gallery, we bring learning to life through the visual arts. Our guided school tours will take you through our exhibitions with the aim of nurturing the next generation of artists and art lovers by introducing tools to foster artistic literacy and encouraging students to think critically about visual images. Opening up the world of art allows young people to find meaning in creative expression. And of course, pleasure! Back in the classroom, students will discover a new connection to their culture, history and environments. Our tours are free and in addition to our general comprehensive tours, we can also work with groups to specialize tours according to school curriculums.

Tours are Monday to Friday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

*Special arrangements can be made for tours outside of regular hours.
