EMERGING CURATOR PROGRAM

Artist call for emerging curators - Curator for the Yukon Energy Community Gallery.

The emerging curator will curate the Yukon Energy Community Gallery from January to end of May 2022. The exhibitions will be a mix of artist/community led projects and at least one exhibition fully led by the curator.

Minimum of one curator-led themed exhibition with individual artists chosen by curator

  • This exhibition will include an introductory text panel by the curator
  • Curator selects artworks based on theme.
  • Curator coordinates with artists and YAC preparator staff to set up and present the exhibition in a professional manner.
  • Curator works with artists to provide images and information for promotion for the YAC website.
  •  

Artist/community led exhibitions:

  • Artists or community groups propose ideas for exhibition
  • Curator choses, schedules the exhibitions and with YAC contracts exhibitions
  • Curator coordinates with artist/community groups and YAC preparator staff to set up and present the exhibition in a professional manner.
  • Curator works with artist/community groups to provide images and information for promotion for the YAC website.

Training opportunities:

  • The emerging curator will able to assist with exhibition set-up in the Main Gallery at YAC
  • Participate in late November during the Yukon Prize final weekend events (artist & curator talks and tours)

$4000 curator fee plus $1000 for exhibition expenses. This project is made possible with support from the RBC Foundation.

The emerging curator will curate the ATCO Electric Yukon Youth Gallery from January to end of May 2022. The exhibitions will be a mix an artist/community led projects and at least one exhibition fully led by the curator.

Minimum of one curator-led themed exhibition with individual artists chosen by curator (note this could be an art contest)

  • This exhibition will include an introductory text panel by the curator
  • Curator selects artworks based on theme.
  • Curator coordinates with youth and YAC preparator staff to set up and present the exhibition in a professional manner.
  • Curator works with youth to provide images and information for promotion for the YAC website.

School/Artist/community led exhibitions:

  • Schools, community groups or individuals propose ideas for exhibition
  • Curator choses, schedules the exhibitions and with YAC contracts exhibitions
  • Curator coordinates with school/artist/community groups and YAC preparator staff to set up and present the exhibition in a professional manner.
