Free Family Art Classes! Kids Kreate


Get messy, have fun, and learn about art at our monthly Kids Kreate art classes. Every Kids Kreate activity is specially tailored to respond to the materials and methods featured in our current exhibition. This family friendly event runs one Sunday per month between September and April from 1pm-4pm. Funding for Kids Kreate is gratefully provided by City of Whitehorse and Lotteries Yukon.

Meet in the Yukon Arts Centre lobby,  one Sunday a month, 1-4p.m.  Note: dress for a mess!

Found Object Artwork - Inspired by the artwork of Kerri Reid, we’ll learn about how art can be made with what surrounds us.

Animal Inspiration - Kelly Richarson created artwork inspired by the animals and environments she’s visited.  We’ll take inspiration from Kelly and create artwork inspired by animals in the Yukon.

Papermaking - Exploring the exhibition by Kelly Borgers, will learn the art of making our very own paper by hand.

Felted Fun Christmas Crafts - Just in time for Christmas we’ll make our very own ornaments out of felt.

Picture Postcards - Exploring the themes in the exhibition Untrue North, we’ll make postcards to send to family and friends that depict our version of the North we call home.

Musical Jam! - We’ll be rocking out at KidsFest with the Frostbite crew making our own instruments and costumes.  Location to be determined.

Sandwich Signs - Inspired by the artwork in the exhibition Untrue North we’ll make our own sandwich boards that highlight life in the North.

Dreamscape - The artists in the exhibition Sleep of Reason use dreams as the inspiration for their artwork.  We’ll explore the meanings and ideas behind our dreams to create our own dreamscape artwork.
