The images in this exhibition form a series of works by Ted Harrison illustrating the Robert Service poem, The Shooting of Dangerous Dan McGrew.

The fourteen acrylic on board paintings were first published in 1988 under the title Original Illustrations for The Shooting of Dan McGrew by Kids Can Press Ltd.

Today these original Harrison paintings are a treasured part of the Yukon Arts Centre Public Gallery Permanent Collection and close to Yukoner's hearts.

The paintings mesh the legends of the Gold Rush, the splendor of the landscape and the artistic inspiration that the land of the midnight sun can breed.

My life in the Yukon caused a revolution in my style of painting, and my outlook on life. The Yukon proved to be my road to Damascus  and led to a change in my style of painting and in my way of perceiving the world. Canada and its people are both my inspiration and motivation for which I am profoundly grateful.
