Eight professional artists from Canada and Mexico got together in order to share ideas, stories and experiences with each other and with community members. The group represents a multi-cultural mix of a Six Nations Canadian, a Japanese Canadian, a northern Canadian, and five Mexican artists.
Part of the LLAMA Project’s Canada-Mexico exchange, Voz/Voice is the fruit of two collaborative residencies, one in Mexico and the second one in the Yukon. The works exhibited here are the outcome of the latter and were produced at Yukon artist Joyce Majiski’s studio and at the Ted Harrison Retreat over the course of the summer and fall of 2009.
