This year’s Pivot Festival presents a multi-faceted exploration of the elusive “Canadian Identity” as it offers a series of solo and duo performance created and performed by five markedly diverse theatre artists: a Chilean Canadian, an Israeli Canadian, a First Nations Canadian, a French Canadian and a Filipina Canadian. This remarkable spectrum also represents some of the finest alternative theatre being presented in Canada today.

Leave a Message (après le bip) tells the story of Claire’s final journey.  Her inability to connect in a setting that numbs her leads Claire on a constant quest for more.  As loneliness becomes her country and her fascination with death deepens, Claire grows deaf to voices that care and travels North for one last adventure.  Way up there, the unexpected happens.
In their first play, Open Pit writers Aislinn Cornett and Geneviève Doyon create a world in which boundaries blur.  They stand on the edge of reality, language, desolation, love and humour to break conventions and remind us that there is beauty everywhere, even in death.
