The Northwestel Art Lover’s Series presents Danse Lhasa Danse – A coproduction of PPS Danse and Coup de Coeur Francophone

Lhasa, was a much-beloved American-born singer-songwriter who was raised in Mexico and the United States, and divided her adult life between Canada and France. Her first album, La Llorona, went platinum in Canada and brought Lhasa a Félix Award and a Juno Award. Lhasa recorded two more albums but was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 around the time her third album, Lhasa, was released. She died on New Year's Day 2010.

Danse Lhasa Danse is a tribute to the singer Lhasa de Sela. A show conceived by the choreographer Pierre-Paul Savoie for 4 singers, 5 musicians and 8 dancers. Like a choir in a cathedral, dance, lyrics and music merge into one voice to echo the work of an exceptional artist.

« Pas besoin de mots (…) ici il n’y a que la véhémence du geste, l’émotion du chant, l’impalpable de la musique pour rendre hommage à une œuvre forte et éternelle. »  - Marie-Christine Trottier, Espace musique
