Tuesday, November 13th, 8:00 PM at the Yukon Arts Centre. Tickets are $17, a savings of $15!

LIsa LeBlanc - Nov. 27th, 7:30 PM at the Old Fire Hall - is a New Brunswick native with a "folk-trash" feel. Opening for Lisa will be Whitehorse's own Guy Cormier

Mara Tremblay - Nov. 30th, 7:30 PM at the Old Fire Hall is a classic chanteuse style Montreal musician/singer and novelist. Her first album, Le Chihuahua, won three Felix awards. Opening for Mara will be Blue Hibou (Kim Barlow, Hélène Beaulieu and Micah Smith).


Get Animated!

Get Animated!

Our next Kids Kreate is a special one. We are partnering with the Yukon Film Society and the National Film Board (NFB) to present Get Animated! Kids Kreate. Get Animated! is the NFB’s annual cross-Canada animation celebration, bringing you some of Canada’s finest animated films. 


This Sunday, October 28, local filmmaker Andrew Sharp will be teaching us the basics of stop-motion animation, and we’ll even have the chance to make our very own short animated films! The workshop is free, and video equipment, plasticine, and other supplies are provided. 

Workshop for Kids age 10+: 12 - 3 pm
Workshop for Kids age 5-10: 1 - 3 pm

Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult!


Film Screenings

While you’re in for the workshop, be sure to visit the mainstage theatre for some free, family-friendly NFB film screenings!

Sunday, October 28
12 PM: FAMILY PROGRAM "Not So Scary Stories" (5+) (39 min)
"Not So Scary Stories" program of animated films features the quirky tale of a six-year-old who collects sounds, along with a colourful and charming fairy tale—perfect for children ages five and up.

1 PM: FAMILY PROGRAM "Friends and Monsters" (10+) (37 min)
"Friends and Monsters" is for the 10+ crowd, with films about a very unusual set of twins and the unsettling experience of being in a new school.

Yukon Arts Centre offers a MYSTERY PASS for Art Lovers!

All the Art Lover’s shows--SIX shows-- for $99, only you don’t know which shows they are! 

August 22, we will reveal the whole fantastic 20th Anniversary Yukon Arts Centre Season in a blowout BBQ and presentation—and release WHICH shows will be a part of the Art Lover’s Series.

We will then set the Pass at $126.

BUT-- Till the 20th of August—it’s a Mystery that you can get for $99. 
Here’s how to get your Art Lover’s Mystery Pass. 

  1. Come in person to the Yukon Arts Centre to purchase.  The Mystery is only happening up here!
  2. Choose the seat that you want for all six shows
  3. Pay $99 for your pass
  4. Find out on Aug 22 what you’ve got! 

The Yukon Arts Centre’s 20th Anniversary Season promises to be its greatest yet!  The Art Lover’s Pass includes the most intriguing theatre, dance, and music offerings, and this year is no exception.  We think you’ll be pleased if you follow our MYSTERY to its conclusion.

Technical & Operations Director

The Technical Director is responsible for technical services at the Mainstage and Studio and provides technical leadership to the Old Fire Hall team.  The Technical Director and his team provide technical support to the Art Gallery.  The Yukon Arts Centre also programmes into the smaller communities throughout Yukon, and the Technical Director will support that programming as required.
Additional responsibilities include:
• act as liaison with the Properties Management Department,
• oversee minor facility maintenance and the custodial contractor,
• supervise maintenance of  all stage equipment,
• manage infrastructure and systems projects,
• oversee health and safety programmes,
• develop and train a corps of casual stage crew,
• develop and train a corps of volunteer stage crew.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a post secondary live performance technical programme with at least five years working experience. 

Key strengths will include leadership skills, a willingness to work in a flexible team environment and the ability to work with a wide range of external and internal clients. Given the high level of activity at YAC (typically 75% of the available Mainstage dates are used) efficient staff and resource scheduling is very important.

Technical skills should include;
• lighting design,
• live sound operation,
• strong computer skills in either MAC or PC or ideally both,
• a knowledge of CAD (Vectorworks),
• stage rigging,
• experience with finances, including the preparation of budgets.

The Yukon Arts Centre Gallery and Box Office will close for Easter holiday on April 6 and reopen with regular hours on Tuesday April 10, 2012. We will however be open for the following events:
