Philomena Carroll
The Alchemist’s Jar

Alchemy: the translation of something common into something precious. Dipping into an Alchemist’s Jar, Carroll’s photographic work explores what is profound, provocative, elusive and extraordinary among what is common and everyday.

Laurie Papou
New

Vancouver based Laurie Papou presents New: a body of mixed media work that redefines her creative strategies. Realistic, figurative paintings on wood panel have been layered and sometimes eclipsed with sound/video projection. Rather than relying on traditional light sources, groups of paintings are bathed in the flickering glow of projected video images and the
thematic tone is affirmed using sound.

Lisa Steele + Kim Tomczak
We’re Getting Younger All the Time and Practicing Death

Recipients of the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, Steele
and Tomczak have worked exclusively in collaboration, producing videotapes,
performances and photo/text works since 1983. We are pleased to present
two of their understated yet
direct video installations.
