The Yukon Arts Centre is pleased to present two special performance by Cuba's most celebrated dance company. The all-female company of 17 beautiful and technically superb dancers performs “with amazing unanimity” (New York Times) and with “sheer technical finesse” (Chicago Sun-Times). The precision of the ensemble work is breathtaking, with some unforgettable solos – in choreography covering a broad spectrum of human emotions and visual statements. The ladies are accompanied by an on-stage ensemble of remarkable musicians, performing the powerful rhythms of the Spanish and Afro-Cuban styles that so uniquely blend into the ‘Cuban sound’. Danza Cuba presents a breathtaking program of sight and sound, using a new dance vocabulary based on combinations of the folkloric dance and music traditions of Spain and Cuba. A true visual and sonic feast not to be missed.
